About this event
Book for this month: The Keeper of Hidden Books by Madeline Martin.
The SAIL Book Club is open to all members of SAIL and meets on the third Wednesday of each month at Alicia Ashman library OR VIRTUALLY IF YOU PREFER. Please register online at SAIL or call if that’s not possible. Books are chosen by book club members that are readily available at the library and have been read and recommended by a member of the SAIL book club. The next book is available after each discussion or delivered to you if needed. In October the book club will meet to discuss The Keeper of Hidden Books by Madeline Martin. This book was recommended by Christine McKenna. She gives us this advice. “The Author’s Note at the end might better be read part way through the book. It explains the Nazi agenda in its attempt to destroy Polish and Jewish culture and explains that the author was inspired to write this book by those who preserved books and made them available to those in need of such diversion during Nazi occupation. And I was amazed by how much of the heroism was true, the product not of the author’s imagination but of her research.” The book chosen for November is The Island of the Sea Women by Lisa See.
