Save the date for this outing planned by the Ethnic Diversity Committee (EDC). The outing includes a tour and presentation at Deer Park Buddhist Center, the only full-scale monastic and teaching center upholding the Dalai Lama’s tradition in the Midwest. Since its founding in 1976, the Dalai Llama has visited the center numerous times. The outing will include a tour of the grounds, a tour and presentation of the temple, a small meditation session, and Q&A. To end, we will enjoy refreshments and view some of the Tibetan art and cultural artifacts on display. Masks are recommended to help keep everyone safe. Attendees can keep their shoes on while in the temple space. Donations are accepted, though not required. We have reserved a bus that will leave from Oakwood Heritage main entrance at 2:15 p.m. Cost for riding the bus is $5/person. For those that will drive separately, please plan to arrive by 3:00 p.m. There is a large parking lot with handicap parking located near the temple entrance.
