About this event

This Months Book is James by Percival Everett.

This Pulitzer Prize winning book is a re-telling of Huck Finn from his enslaved companion’s perspective, but it’s more than that; James is a complex character. Parts of it discuss the brutality of slavery, so, while it’s an engaging read it is not always easy to read. There is much to discuss regarding race, identity, social conditions then and now, and the author’s use of humor.

The SAIL Book Club is open to all members of SAIL and meets on the third Wednesday of each month virtually. Please register online at SAIL or call if that’s not possible. Books are chosen by Book Club members that are readily available at the library and have been read and recommended by a member of the SAIL Book Club.
The next book is available after each discussion or delivered to you if needed.
