This Months Book: Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro
This is a dystopian novel narrated by Klara, a solar-powered Artificial Friend (AF) designed to prevent loneliness in children. From a store window, Klara observes the world, developing a faith in the Sun's nourishing power. She is purchased by Josie, a "lifted" (genetically enhanced) teenager suffering from a mysterious illness.
